Our Coplanar Silencer reduces fan sound power levels by up to 18 dB — and maintains full-fan efficiency — without adding any length to the system for attenuation devices.
How does the Coplanar Silencer Work?
The patented enclosure for FANWALL® cubes is lined with perforated steel and acoustic insulation. Noise is reduced by directing the sound wave through multiple layers of acoustically absorbent material between the fans in the array. The noise generated by the plenum fans travels through these multiple tiers of the acoustical grid before reaching a reflective surface, such as the walls, roof, or floor of the airway tunnel within the air handler.
Combined with higher blade pass frequencies, the reductions in sound power level are significant, especially at low frequencies where sound is difficult to attenuate.
In addition to helping avoid the added cost, unit length, and constant static-pressure penalty of sound attenuators, the air-over environment created by the Coplanar Silencer uses incremental horsepower motors and Permanent Magnet (PM) Motors to promote optimal efficiency and maintain low electrical installation costs.
