Occupant Comfort and Health…

Public buildings experience fluctuating occupancy levels, which can complicate temperature and air quality management. Ensuring good air quality to protect the health of occupants, especially in high-traffic areas, is essential.  Nortek Air Solutions can provide reliable air quality solutions for most environments. We have decades of experience in providing precise temperature control for some of the toughest applications.

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability

Public buildings frequently adopt green building design certifications like LEED® to enhance sustainability. Building space comes in all sizes so it is advantageous to work with a company that can scale its products large and small. Nortek Air Solutions’ FANWALL TECHNOLOGY is one example of a scalable product option to match the airflow capacity and part-load performance needed for these spaces. And we offer high efficiency motor options and fan wheel alternatives to match your performance.

A building’s fan system can be the highest consumable of energy in a building so you can enhance your sustainability design by using high efficiency motors and fans.

Implementing energy-efficient systems to reduce operational costs. Utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar panels. Adopting green building certifications like LEED to enhance sustainability.

When Quiet Means Quiet…

…look to Nortek Air Solutions for the innovative solutions and application knowhow for sound control and noise reduction to eliminate excess noise and distractions in your building. Our commitment to customer satisfaction is evident at the Nortek Air Solutions Acoustics Test Lab. It is one of the largest, AMCA 310 accredited, fully equipped, dual reverberant chamber HVAC testing facilities of its kind. We have created decades of modelling experience and have become a trusted source of sound and vibration data for our customers.

The laboratory provides a wide range of unique services to our customers including acoustical modeling, comprehensive production testing, and robust performance and diagnostic analysis. It also serves as a site for rigorous, ongoing research and development testing and modeling, as well as a showplace for customer-witnessed testing of airflow, thermal, vibration and acoustical performance of units manufactured by Nortek Air Solutions.

The lab is designed and equipped to perform simultaneous testing in accordance with AMCA Standard 300 for Sound Power Levels and AMCA Standard 210 for Airflow Performance.

Decarbonization Strategies…

… for air handling equipment in public facilities often focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy efficiency. Nortek Air Solutions can help you with energy efficiency improvements, geothermal energy, air source heat pump options for heating and cooling, energy recovery strategies, and the use of low GWP refrigerants to reduce the environmental impact.

Free Cooling with Economizers…

…can reduce energy consumption when outdoor air temperature allows it.  Water economizer coils are used to pre-cool air without compressor operation, reducing the amount of mechanical cooling needed to meet load requirements.  The water economizer coil can be used anytime the ambient outside air temperature is below the return fluid temperature of the system. The system uses a cooling tower’s ability, at lower temperatures, to provide condenser water cold enough to cool the building air directly through a water coil.

An airside economizer uses outside air to help condition indoor air and achieve greater energy efficiency. Economizers are commonly used in data centers or in buildings with a climate that allows for economizing, to reduce the reliance on mechanical cooling, such as chillers or compressors.

Retrofit and Replacement …

… of old air handlers or end-of-life fans systems is much easier today using a FANWALL System from Nortek Air Solutions. It can be the most cost-effective solution for avoiding business disruption of an air handler failure, while delivering energy saving improvements as high as 40%.

In many cases, fan or air handler replacements have access limitations that require the time and expense of a major demolition and reconstruction project. A FANWALL system can minimize this and other barriers.

The performance of the new system can be optimized to match actual capacity and airflow requirements. Ancillary components that created static-pressure penalties in the old system can be removed, such as sound attenuators and air blenders.

Retrofits often can happen over a weekend or during unoccupied timeframes to minimize downtime or disruption of normal business. We’ve engineered FANWALL retrofit solutions for thousands of applications.

Adaptability and Flexibility…

…are key design capabilities Nortek Air Solutions can bring to your application. Custom sizes ranging from very small to very large, 2,000 to 400,000 CFM and 20 to 400 ton, with complex cabinet configurations (double/triple wide, double/triple stack, L-shaped, U-shaped).
